Happy National Lipstick Day! A few years ago, I rounded up a quick list featuring best selling MAC pink lipstick colors on black women. This year, I want to help put black-owned makeup brands (BOMBs) in the spotlight.

There are five lip colors I think every woman should own:

• a notable nude
• a reliable red
• a posh pink
• a werk it wine
• a vivacious violet

Celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales painted Rihanna’s lips with Coloured Raine’s Matte Lip Paint in Raine Fever. Described as a “dark amethyst with purple undertones,” Raine Fever worked wonderfully with the overall vibe of this advertisement.
