Amber Riley Essence Magazine Makeup
Yesterday I finally picked up the March 2011 issue of Essence Magazine (with Angela Bassett on the cover). I was looking forward to a couple of features in this particular issue – the Essence 2011 Beauty Awards, Angela Bassett’s “Unstoppable” and of course, Amber Riley’s “She’s Every Woman” photoshoot. I shot celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham an email after she revealed that she did Riley’s makeup on Facebook. Billy B’s Tweet to Black Opal Beauty: “Where the Hell Are They?”
Recently, celebrity makeup artist Billy Brasfield (“Billy B.”) took to his Twitter to pen a mini-rant to beauty brand Black Opal. I thought his tweet was funny but sad. The man does have a point; have you found Black Opal Cosmetics in your area? I had a rude awakening back in October. I wanted to try a couple of Black Opal products, like the True Color Liquid Foundation and the True Color Stick Foundation SPF 8. Did you know R&B singer Monica is collaborating with Orly on a nail polish line scheduled to come out in July 2011? She tweeted, “Thanks to Team Monica [for] the support, [I] just closed the deal for my nail polish line. It’s an extension of Orly. Orly is an amazing product found in spas, Sally’s (as in Sally Beauty) and many other beauty supply stores so this is an honor. Kerry Washington’s L’Oreal Live UStream Video Makeup
Naturally gorgeous Kerry Washington recently recorded a L’Oreal Live UStream with her hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew in which she talked about the products that helps keep her hair shiny, healthy and gorgeous. I was extremely happy to learn that she’s a fan of the L’Oreal Everpure products since I invested a couple of products from this line (the EverStrong Overnight Repair Treatment and the EverStrong Deep Replenishing Masque.) Celebrity makeup artist Valente Frazier mostly used all L’Oreal products along with a “beautiful baby pink blush” on her cheeks and “a little concealer under her eyes and around the corners of the mouth.” Kerry just looked fabulous all around!

You ever wonder what type of beauty products video vixens might use on set? I know this subject might be taboo but sometimes you can’t help but wonder, right? Well, I recently found out which products were used to keep the gals glimmering and gorgeous in the “Kush” music video from rapper Dr. Dre featuring guest rappers Akon and Snoop Dogg.
