This compilation of black-owned highlighters for deeper skin tones has been in draft for a bit. At first, I wanted to showcase great highlighters that looked beyond on richer skin tones. If you follow any makeup Instagram accounts, then you know highlighters are, well, lit (pun intended). Inspired, I created this quick list identifying highlighters from black-owned businesses. Shopping #Empire: S2, E12 Fashion Finds
MAC Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson Lipglass and Lipstick now available at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. Available until February 2018. The fashion credits for episode 11 (“Death Will Have His Day”) is still in draft but I was able to get a jump on this week’s episode. First, thanks to Mary Collins of Vauje Jewelry enthusiastically sharing that Cookie Lyon wore one of her necklaces (from her “Empire Inspired” collection) all over her Instagram (follow her at @vauje), I secured my first sighting of the night. Skin Care Sundays: Ambi Love Times Three
The Ambi namesake is one of those brands that I’ve managed to “inherit” if that makes any sense. To help my combat my acne scarring and hyperpigmentation, my mom, (also a devout Ambi user) recommended that I try the Ambi Fade Cream, which boasts Vitamin E, Alpha Hydroxy Acid and sunscreen among its ingredients. I bet you any kind of money that if I were as consistent with my skin care as I am with writing and editing this blog, all of my dark spots would be faded nearly to nothing.
