I have been waiting patiently (as I am sure most of you have as well) for Wednesday because I couldn’t wait to share what Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) wore in episode 9 “Unto the Breach.” I had an inkling Cookie dipped into her treasure chest for more Roberto Cavalli jewels (since she wore jewelry from the brand in last week’s episode), and I was right! She chose a $2,005 Roberto Cavalli Brass and Plexiglass Monkey Necklace (sold out) with the matching $1285 Brass and Plexiglass Monkey Cuff Bracelet (sold out).
The necklace was on sale for $1,002.50 at Forzieri. The cuff, once on sale for $642.50, is also completely sold out.
The white and black crosshatch peplum top Cookie wore here is the $298 BCBGMAXAZRIA Elizabetta Peplum Jacquard Pullover (sold out). The Elizabetta featured an abstract puckered jacquard pattern with a peplum hemline and long sleeves.
However, if you love this particular style, BCBGMAXAZRIA has their $68.99 Elizabetta Ocelot Sweater Jacquard Peplum Top. She slipped on a pair of BCBGMAXAZRIA $119 Nicolas Quilted Faux-Leather Pants (sold out). The Nicolas featured an elasticized waistband, mock fly, quilted faux leather front, ponte-knit back, skinny leg style and exterior side-seam slit at leg openings. Check out the $129 BCBGMAXAZRIA Lucien Quilted Faux-Leather Pants for a similar look.
In this particular shot, Cookie decided to wear two items from previous episodes. First, this $3,135 Burberry Black Leather Elstree Trench Coat (sold out) debuted in “Dangerous Bonds,” episode 5.
Second, Cookie exuded cool in a pair of $625 Prada Round Absolute Baroque Crystal Sunglasses. She also wore the glamorous, retro shades to Bunkie’s funeral in episode 3, “The Devil Quotes Scripture.”
Zappos has quite the selection of studded Prada sunnies, even including the style in ivory/silver:
She chose a pair of $1095 Saint Laurent Janis Side-Zip Ankle Boots (sold out).
Perhaps the standout piece is Cookie’s amazing $10,000 Gucci Python Galaxy Bag (sold out), which has been marked down to a modest $1,095 at The RealReal .
Essence did a feature on Empire costume designer Rita McGhee in January. She identified this rare, limited edition Gucci bag as one of Cookie’s signature pieces. I can’t wait to see how she showcases it next!
Check out Cookie’s closet to see most of the clothes, accessories, and shoes she’s worn on Empire. I consistently update it with new pieces as I find them.
