On the heels of her “The Beauty & The Brand” brunch (which I, unfortunately, could not attend), Motions celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephens created a curly, sexy look for singer Jill Scott for her appearance at the “Get On Up“ world premiere in NYC at the Apollo Theater on Monday evening. “We were going for a very sexy, curly look to complement her sultry, curve-fitting dress. The overall look was old-Hollywood glam and she definitely pulled it off!” exclaimed Stephen. Here’s how to get the look:
Jill Scott by Ursula Stephen: Motions
- Start with clean, dry hair. For natural girls, use the Motions Natural Textures Moisturizing Cleanser
- Use Motions Nourish Leave-In Conditioner to detangle and add moisture to the hair and blow dry
- Tightly curl the entire head using a 1-inch barrel curling iron and comb out lightly to create a finger-wave formation
- Tease roots at the crown and apply Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade to tame frizz at the top and sides
- Finish with Motions Light Hold Working Spritz
Jill Scott by Tasha Reiko Brown: MAC Cosmetics and Murad Skin Care
Celebrity makeup artist Tasha Reiko Brown revealed that she did Jill’s makeup for the NYC premiere on Instagram. I do not have exact makeup details but watch this space! I’ll update as soon as I find out more information.
Update: I mistakenly identified Jill’s lip as MAC Lipstick in Rebel…I even asked Tasha if I was right “or am I way off?” She responded, “Close! Rebel is a bit darker and more berry. This needed something a bit more fresh with pop. I choose this matte texture to play with the glamour theme as opposed to Rebel’s satin texture. (I custom mixed this lip!)” And like I always do, I second guessed myself as I noticed the texture was off as soon as I posed my question to her. But doesn’t it look like she mixed Heroine and Heaux (both by MAC with the latter being limited edition) together for this look?
